Chapter History

The Pi Theta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated had its inception on the campus of
Morris College December 10, 1977 on a Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Daniel's Hall. The
fourteen confident women were under the guidance of Dr. Beatrice Gregg Sanders, Professor Emerita
and former Director of Counseling.  Therefore, on that day the  Pi Theta Chapter of
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated made history by becoming the first of the major predominantly
Black sororities to join the Morris College family. The ladies of the Pi Theta Chapter volunteer on
and off campus and participates in activities and numerous community-service projects including the
Adopt-A-Highway program, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March, United Negro Fund, Blood Drive,
the adoption of a local Residential facility, March of Dimes, Walk America and many more.
The chapter also awards an annual scholarship to a young lady from the freshman class who
excels academically and who shows the potential to excel in extracurricular activities.
